African sun (templates for 2d animators)

  Hey!

I hope you're having a wonderful day. I’m currently working on a Crazytalk Animator Backgrounds collection of 2d animation templates called “African sun”. The first edition is finished and I’ve attached some of the promotional images below.

The backgrounds will be soon available on the Reallusion Market place, once my store is running I’ll post up the linkJ. Like I said before the African sun has 8 backgrounds. I’m working on more Crazytalk Animator content that you’ll be able to use alongside with these backgrounds.

As of now the backgrounds will be able to be used royalty free once you purchase them on the upcoming store. I hope to fill the market with alien templates, city, villages and other vast templates.

I have great plans for the African sun collection. I pray to God things keep coming together.

Hip pops cereal [Complete]

Sigh.. the Hip pops packaging is done. I posted these recent images to my facebook page and here to show the actual size of the pack in comparison to a model (thanks Angie).

The design process was fun and I'm currently juggling a few things like the next design (shoes) and a script for a new animation. I'm eager to kick start production, but there is still a lot of work that I need to do before that can happen.  A lot of work!

Hip pops - Cereal box design

I really enjoyed designing the cereal box above. I did it for my latest class assignment, and I came up with the name Hip pops for my cereal and used a modified version of the Dizzy Don animated character from my Mirira musical video I did sometime last year. The assignment also required me to do some photography, and I had to photograph a bowl of cereal. The rest was mostly hand drawn except for the mini cooper image I had to Google since I don't have a Mini I could photograph myself.

Now I'm waiting for the prints to see what they'll look like.

Enjoy your weekend!

Eat.sleep.animate

Hey... I've really enjoyed my CrazyTalk animator contest experience. I'll continue to find ways to fine tune my animations until I reach my highest potential :D but for now I have these new images to share.

The image on the top is from a future project I'm hoping to work on ASAP! Being an Angry Birds fan on Friday I drew up the image above. That game's AMAZING! after I scanned it into my machine I coloured it in pencil. I kept the original and uncoloured scan so that I can properly colour it in photoshop.

In the past month I.ve been trying out a new software called CrazyTalk animator. Here is my latest animation from it:

Enjoy you day, and feel free to share the video around.

[The God Feather] coming soon..

Once the all the animation is done I'll be saying a little bit more about this brand new project I've just started. Spent most of last night awake designing the characters and even animated a quarter or so of the mini-skit. Show your support for my other animations that are competing in the CrazyTalk Animation Salad contest:

African Poster Design

Hey!
Thank you all for you continued support that you've shown by visiting this Blog and my animation website. I designed the above poster today in class It's for an imaginary event. The elements I created for this poster were:

1. The South African Flag (faintly visible in the background)
2. The African mask (I enjoyed the choice of... "hair" colour I used for the mask)
3. The Heritage Font (I created that font sorely for this poster because sometimes the internet doesn't always have the exact typeface you want)
4. I also used one of my FAVORITE photoshop brushes to design the milky-smoke)

Have a great day!

Hot Stuff : Episode 01

I'm really enjoying the production of Hot stuff mini skits. Above you'll find the first episode, and I'm done with the next script for it. My 3rd episode will feature something from the 2011 Rugby World Cup! However I still have to do the 2nd episode before we get into that! Cisca De Villiers even helped me co-direct a scene from episode 3 which will be spoken in her first language; Afrikaans.

Usually I upload a "Friday drawing" but I thought this would be so much more fun, hope you enjoyed the episode!

My "Picasso"

Frankly I had never really admired Picasso's work. I knew that Art History tells us he was GREAT! Despite all the hype I for one wasn't impressed until yesterday.

I had an assignment to paint like one of the great artists Van Gogh and all the others, and I felt that maybe I can try a  Picasso like painting. I used an image of myself as reference (the one I was holding a camera). Suddenly I found myself indulging in Picasso's child like technique. Now, I LOVE his style. Picasso was a genius to have come up with things like this. I can't describe how it feels to paint like this. I don't know if their words I can use.

Originally You can see my "face" there in white, yellows, and brown. You can also see my green fingers holding a blue camera with a dial. If you absorb the image longer, things start to.... change.

My hand starts to look like a banana tree or something, blue begins to feel like an old building. The area around my nose suggests 2 mountains. Creepy? Unintentionally when one paints a Picasso, you give your audience multiple realities. That's the beauty of it.

I took the above photograph depicting someone whose in prison. The "prison" is metaphoric though, symbolizing the various prisons we find ourselves caged into.

I'm done for the day. Time to go home now.

Hot Stuff: SEASON-ing 1

Thank you for barring with me, and visiting my blog. Totally2d.org is currently down but my Engineer is working on that (its tough for small websites like mine but he really does a great job) please be patient with us, and than you for all you support.

Now for some GOOD NEWS...

As an independent animator, you may realize that I have the room to make quick decisions on what to animate. What works, and what doesn't. This requires keeping your ear on the ground on whats happening in the industry. The above image is an extract from my new Work-in-Progress titled Hot Stuff: SEASON-ing 1.

Previously I mentioned a 2d animation software called Crazy Talk animator. Now that I have it, I plan to show the world how powerful it is. Watch my sample animation here, its just a test of how to animate in Hot Stuff: SEASON-ing 1. I'm SO EXCITED about this! Thank you Reallusion for all your invaluable support.

Cheers!

Yes... it's a fairy

Hello there!
I've started working in Crazy Talk Animator, creating a musical video for Elsa Kamsoda. This Fairy above is one of the character designs I'll be using. She'll be playing a violin, so I was just doing some online research on violins online.

The musical video will probably be ready after I finish the current project "Sun of God" which will be an animation of Elsa's poem. If all goes to plan another project I have on the cards is Clouds of Love by Zayed :) So much work, so little time.

Check out my animations on my website

Enjoy your day! Thank you for visiting my blog. Cheers..

This Friday I have the above image, it was my entry for the uShaka Marine World body Art competition that will be happening on the 27th of August. It's going to be great! Unfortunately my design above wasn't chosen for the event, good luck to Ant (my classmate) who will be taking part. Enjoy your weekend guys!

WELCOME!

Don't be afraid to change something if you think that will make it better! I've made adjustments on my Springbok design, the client like it BUT.... the old design had blood on it and a tooth coming out! All that blood + the shape of its nose made it look like a WOLF to a lot of people. Springboks are a gentle more feminine animal (if you will). I'll continue juggling some options until the client is satisfied, so far this is what I have...

I'm in the middle of designing a logo for someone. The challenge with that is achieving simplicity. The above image is from Ndoto communication's presentation for "blue Mondays". I designed the Blue Mondays logo for the sometime ago. Its an event they plan to host at a coffee house (hence the U with steam coming out of it). I posted this just to share an old piece of work.

Below is another old piece of work.

I think every designer should go over their old stuff and see if their improving from that. It helps to compare what you did then, and what you are coming up with now.

Hope you have a lovely day! Cheers...

Springboks (Rugby)

As I walk around I'm impressed by the number of people who are geared for the Rugby World Cup! Here in South Africa, the people around have started wearing Springbok jerseys to show their support, and I've designed the illustration above. Its an extract from a side project I was doing the past 2 or so weeks.

I really loved the knocked out tooth on this bok, but the final product doesn't have the tooth and all that blood. We concluded that it looked a lot like a blood thirsty wolf or something. Below is the original sketch I had done, and photographed. The two images look... different (I know)

In the sketch, the springbok is not all buff and rugby-ishy. I wasn't sure where the right leg should go, the sketch looks scared... worried, or something. The end result was done in my Toon Boom Studio animation package. All in all, I really enjoyed this project! Thank you for reading my blog, enjoy the rest of your day!

I took this photographs in the room just across the corridor from where I'm blogging. A friend of mine asked me to take some photographs like these, I'm failing to attach them without getting errors and thought he might as well download them from my blog :) I can now just email him the link!

Crazy Talk Animator

So far I've been fighting several obstacles in the production of my animation mini series "Hooked Alive". Alas, I seem to have made some progress. Less than 15 days ago I stumbled upon Crazy Talk animator. Its a 2d animation software that you can try out for yourself, and from what I'm seeing its good features I could have only dreamt about!

I recommend any aspiring animators to Download Crazy Talk Animator trial now, and try it out. You might surprise yourself, soon my website will have some Crazy Talk Animator templates for you to try out including the one above; Martin, from my Hooked Alive cast. So now I have the script written out, and all the characters designed I just need to add the full version of Crazy Talk Animator.

Crazy Talk Animator has a function where you could just import an image (as shown above) and use that one image to start animating! You'll be impressed, I know I was. There also have several step by step Youtube videos on how their software package works watch it now!

I'm an animator, and I love it! However somedays you really struggle to push your productions, most days its hard, and during those rainy days. Can your software give you the tools that are effective, and powerful enough  for you to pull through the millions of frames needed? Visit my website http://www.totally2d.org/ and see the full range of animation softwares that I trust and use! Crazy talk Animator is a product you might also want to try out, my favourite feature is the Body pupperteering where you animate by moving your mouse!

Their product has a wide a range of feature PLUS you tube videos, to make your life easier. Enjoy the accesories panel, and facial animation tools. This would be brilliant to use in my future productions!

Enjoy your day! Wish me luck, as a continue progressing in all my art, photography, and animation projects :) CHEERS!

Floating in music

Took this photograph last week for my class project. I'm looking forward to taking even more photos and designing the final poster. In this one Calyn looks almost as if she's floating in music, drowning or something. Its a bit somber, and I love it, but will be taking more photographs until we come up with the best we can later this week.

The Avril ingredient

Welcome back! I usually prefer taking my own photographs for class but since Avril is nowhere near Durban, I had no choice. My graphics teacher asked us to design a cd cover that folds in three ways. We had to do one for any musician, amd I chose AVRIL LAVIGNE (hope I got the spelling right). I know I did :) I think her whole rebel/ rock look is a great element to work with when designing. Normally I would have made the surface black instead of white, but lately (for some time now) Avril has shown a gentler more sensitive side. She's (in my opinion) wearing more skirts and less Sk8er boy PUNK! Avril is more sane/ incontrol than most perfoming artists in her genre (I think). She's not only GREAT but stable at it!

HOOKED ALIVE has a character: Sally. She's a bit inspired by Avril sk8er appeal, lets call it Hooked Alive's Avril ingredient. (maybe I should also dye Sally's hair). Recently I've stumbled upon a 2d animation package (Crazy talk Animator) that promises to help me accelerate in my Hooked Alive animation. I'll tell you more about Crazy Talk Animator in my next posts. For now, check out their site, and you can even download the FREE trial for yourself now!

Thank you for reading the post guys! As part of project I made up the track names for my Avril Lavigne - incomplete Album. None of the tracks are real, not even the album (so dont get excited fellow fans). I'm done, and currently playing... Avril's My happy ending :)
